What You'll Find (or Help Build) Here:

We draw deep inspiration from the resilience, practical skills (like natural building and foraging), and community structures of historical Norse peoples. While honoring this heritage, we thoughtfully integrate appropriate modern technology where it ethically enhances our goals of sustainability, transparency, and efficiency, always operating legally. For instance, we plan to utilize drones for land management and monitoring, operated in strict compliance with FAA regulations. We're also exploring the potential for publicly accessible live feeds from drones over common routes or from designated public work zones, offering unique transparency while governed by protocols that rigorously protect resident privacy. Furthermore, digital tools will aid in record-keeping, communication, and sharing data like soil health metrics, supporting informed participation and efficient community function.

Living by Seasonal Rhythms:

Life at Raven's Landing flows in harmony with the distinct Colorado seasons. You'll experience this profound connection directly, from the soil preparation and new life of spring, through the intensive cultivation and building projects of summer, into the bountiful harvests and preservation efforts of autumn, and during winter’s focus on indoor crafts, maintenance, planning, and reflection. Embracing these natural cycles is fundamental to our work, our well-being, and our understanding of sustainable living.

Communal Effort & Collaborative Improvement:

Our community is built upon the foundation of shared contribution and mutual support – the essence of "people for people." The foundational 10-hour weekly work input from each resident ensures all essential tasks, from farming to maintenance, are accomplished collectively. We aim for fair task allocation that leverages individual skills while actively fostering opportunities for everyone to learn and grow. As Raven's Landing evolves, so too will our structures for collaborative decision-making, ensuring community voices guide our methods and help us continually refine our approach across all project areas.

Focus on Sustainable Essentials & Shared Abundance:

We prioritize securing life's essentials through sustainable, resourceful practices designed to regenerate the land we steward. Our goal extends beyond mere subsistence to creating genuine abundance. This means producing high-quality, ethically-raised food and medicine (including marijuana, cultivated in full compliance with Colorado state regulations) sufficient not only for our community's needs but also enabling us to share surplus affordably with the surrounding local community, always adhering to safe handling and distribution practices as required by law.
